Sourav Singh, the founder and chairperson of BCF was working at a multinational in Delhi. On his way to the office each morning, he saw many street children begging at traffic lights and rummaging through garbage for food. Appalled at what he saw, Sourav decided that education was the only way out of the cycle of poverty and abuse. An ordinary person with an extraordinary dream, he took action and went to see the parents of the street children, explaining the importance of learning. He persuaded the parents to let their children come to a centre, where he provided basic education and food, so that they could prepare for enrollment into state schools. After only a few months, many of the children who came to his centre were admitted to the nearest Government-funded school.
